“Ravi Shastri Praises Samson’s Heroics in T20 Victory”

Date:

Former India coach Ravi Shastri expressed confidence that Sanju Samson’s outstanding performance against the West Indies at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Kolkata could mark the beginning of a successful run for the talented opener.

Samson’s unbeaten 97-run innings propelled India into the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, with the right-handed batsman receiving the Player of the Match accolade for his remarkable display that included 12 boundaries and four huge sixes.

The magical unbeaten 97-run knock by Sanju Samson on 50 balls secured India’s spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals.

This performance by Samson, his best in the T20 World Cup so far, is a positive sign for India as they prepare to face England in a crucial semi-final clash in Mumbai. Shastri praised Samson’s calm demeanor and ability to handle pressure on the grand stage.

Shastri commended Samson’s composed and flawless innings, highlighting his precision timing, shot placement, explosive power, and overall class. Despite losing wickets around him, Samson remained composed and focused in front of a large audience.

India’s qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-finals, overcoming West Indies, was mainly credited to Sanju Samson’s stellar performance. Analyzing the game, ICC Digital Insider Sanjana Ganesan and former India head coach Ravi Shastri shared their insights.

Although India faced a challenging situation when skipper Suryakumar Yadav departed for 18 runs in the 11th over, Samson effectively partnered with Tilak Varma (27) and later with Hardik Pandya (17), steering the team towards victory.

While India reached the West Indies’ total only in the final over, coach Gautam Gambhir believed that Samson maintained control throughout the run chase.

Gambhir praised Samson’s exceptional talent, emphasizing the need to support him. He highlighted Samson’s ability to play normal cricketing shots without forcing the pace, showcasing his natural skill and control over the game.

Gambhir expressed confidence in Samson’s potential and hoped to see more outstanding performances from him in the upcoming matches.
