South Africa has announced a significantly altered squad for their upcoming five-match Twenty20 series in New Zealand, introducing five debutant players. This move sees the omission of most of the team that progressed to the Super Eights at the current World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
The newcomers include batters Connor Esterhuizen, Dian Forrester, and Jordan Hermann, all-rounder Eathan Bosch, and young seamer Nqobani Mokoena, all eager to make their mark on the international stage during the tour.
Hermann, the sibling of Rubin Hermann, a player with prior One Day Internationals and T20 experience for South Africa, joins the squad alongside Bosch, the brother of the impressive Corbin Bosch at the World Cup.
Spinner Keshav Maharaj will lead the team, supported by the return of seamers Gerald Coetzee, Lutho Sipamla, and Ottneil Baartman. Additionally, three players from the ongoing World Cup squad – Maharaj, spinner George Linde, and all-rounder Jason Smith – will be part of the touring group.
Coach Shukri Conrad expressed the opportunity this new squad has to showcase their skills at the international level following the T20 World Cup schedule. The series is scheduled to take place from March 15 to 25.
