Paramount and Legendary unveiled the official full-length trailer for their live-action adaptation of Street Fighter at CinemaCon. The trailer showcases a nostalgic and deliberately campy interpretation of the popular fighting game franchise, set in the early 1990s.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is slated for release on October 16, 2026, and revolves around the characters Ken Masters, Chun-Li, and Ryu as they cross paths at the World Warrior Tournament, a prestigious global competition for skilled fighters. The storyline is set in 1993, during the peak of Street Fighter II’s cultural impact.
The cast comprises actors from different eras of the franchise, with Andrew Koji portraying Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Fan-favorite characters such as Akuma, Dhalsim, Cammy, and Vega from the original games and Street Fighter Alpha series make appearances.
The trailer pays homage to the games, featuring iconic scenes like Ken wrecking a car—a nod to Street Fighter II’s bonus stages—and Ryu demonstrating his trademark Hadoken fireball. The footage is accompanied by the song “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes, emphasizing the film’s intentionally campy vibe.
Moreover, the movie introduces a conspiracy subplot centered around the tournament itself, with David Dastmalchian portraying M. Bison and a talented ensemble cast including Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, Eric Andre, and Orville Peck.
This project marks the beginning of Paramount’s exclusive three-year distribution agreement with Legendary Pictures.
