Tanzid Hasan Tamim achieved his maiden ODI century in his 31st match with a six over long off, displaying pure joy and relief on his face. This milestone came during the crucial third ODI against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Throughout his ODI career, the 23-year-old has faced scrutiny since his debut in the Asia Cup in August 2023. Despite showing glimpses of talent, his performances were inconsistent, especially during the ICC ODI World Cup, where he struggled to make a significant impact.
While excelling in T20 cricket with 11 fifties in 45 matches, Tanzid’s temperament in ODIs was questioned due to his inability to convert starts into big scores. However, leading up to the Pakistan series, he showcased promise with a strong performance in the Bangladesh Cricket League and a century in a practice match.
In the series-deciding match against Pakistan, Tanzid demonstrated his abilities by anchoring the innings and eventually reaching his century with a well-timed six off Salman Agha. His innings of 107 runs off 107 balls provided him with a blueprint for achieving success in ODI cricket.
