Three individuals lost their lives, and at least six others sustained injuries in two separate traffic accidents on expressways in Shariatpur and Munshiganj yesterday. In Shariatpur, a tragic incident occurred when a Gopalganj-bound Kotalipara Star Express bus collided with a stationary Khan Paribahan coach at Jamaddar intersection on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway near the South Plaza of the Padma Bridge. This collision resulted in the deaths of two transport workers and injuries to five passengers. Akash Sardar, a 31-year-old bus helper from Gopalganj Sadar, was pronounced dead at the scene, while supervisor Yunus Mollah, aged 40, passed away after being transported to a hospital. According to Sub-Inspector Md Abdus Salam of Shibchar Highway Police Station, the Star Express rear-ended the parked bus, causing it to mount the divider and leading to a temporary disruption in traffic flow. Both buses were subsequently confiscated by the police.
