“UN Experts Uncover Potential Global Criminal Network”

Date:

A group of independent experts appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council has analyzed millions of documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the deceased sex offender, revealing a potential “global criminal network” involved in activities that could constitute crimes against humanity. The experts highlighted that the crimes documented by the US Justice Department were intertwined with supremacist ideologies, racism, corruption, and severe misogyny, demonstrating the objectification and dehumanization of women and girls.

According to the experts, the severity, systematic nature, and international scope of these offenses against women and girls could potentially meet the legal criteria for crimes against humanity. They emphasized the urgent need for an independent and comprehensive investigation into the allegations and called for inquiries into how such crimes could persist unchecked for an extended period.

While the US Justice Department has yet to comment on the matter, a recent bipartisan law passed by Congress mandates the public release of all Epstein-related files. However, the UN experts expressed concerns over significant compliance lapses and errors in redactions that exposed sensitive victim details. The released documents have identified over 1,200 victims thus far.

The experts criticized the limited disclosure of information and the reluctance to expand investigations, which they stated have retraumatized many survivors and subjected them to what they termed as ‘institutional gaslighting.’ The documents made public by the Justice Department have unveiled Epstein’s connections to influential figures in politics, finance, academia, and business, both pre and post his 2008 guilty plea to prostitution charges involving a minor.

Epstein was discovered dead in his cell in 2019, following his arrest on federal charges related to the sex trafficking of minors. The authorities ruled his death as a suicide.
