Neal Mohan, CEO of YouTube, emphasized that despite facing stiff competition from streaming services, YouTube remains the top choice for its most successful creators. In an interview as part of The New York Times’ “The Interview” series, Mohan addressed concerns about platforms like Netflix luring creators away. He noted that while some prominent podcasts and content creators are exploring deals with other platforms, there is no substantial evidence of them completely abandoning YouTube.
According to Mohan, conversations with top creators reveal that YouTube continues to be their primary platform, even as they venture into other services. Creators appreciate the long-term value YouTube offers in terms of audience reach and engagement. Mohan also highlighted that in negotiations with other platforms, creators prioritize maintaining a presence on YouTube over shifting their content exclusively elsewhere.
