Apple discreetly unveiled the AirPods Max 2, its latest over-ear headphones, on March 16. Equipped with Apple’s H2 chip, the new model boasts features like adaptive audio, conversation awareness, voice isolation, and live translation. Apple highlighted that the device aims to assist content creators, such as podcasters and musicians, by offering improvements like studio-quality audio recording and remote camera controls.
Apple claims that the updated active noise cancellation system is 1.5 times more effective than the previous version. The AirPods Max 2 supports 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio when connected through a USB-C cable.
This device introduces several adaptive functionalities, including automatic adjustment between noise cancellation and transparency based on the user’s surroundings, and a feature that decreases playback volume when the user speaks. The live translation feature, powered by Apple’s AI technology, is designed to facilitate cross-language communication in person.
The AirPods Max 2 will be open for orders starting March 25 in various colors like midnight, starlight, orange, purple, and blue, with broader availability expected in the coming month. The initial price for the Apple AirPods Max 2 is set at $549.
