Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson stated that recent nuclear talks with the United States in Oman helped assess Washington’s commitment to diplomacy. The discussions, facilitated by Omani mediators, aimed to revive diplomatic efforts amid concerns sparked by the deployment of a US naval flotilla in the region under former President Trump.
Describing the meeting as a brief yet crucial step to gauge mutual seriousness, Esmail Baghaei emphasized the shared understanding and consensus reached to advance the diplomatic process.
Additionally, Ali Larijani, an advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, visited Oman to follow up on regional consultations and is scheduled to travel to Qatar next. Discussions between Larijani and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq in Oman focused on the latest developments in Iranian-American negotiations.
Baghaei expressed Iran’s stance on the upcoming meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump in Washington, urging the US to act independently from foreign pressures, particularly those from Israel, which disregards regional interests.
Netanyahu is expected to push for a tougher stance on Iran’s ballistic missile program in the next round of talks. Iran’s atomic chief hinted at a potential compromise, suggesting that Iran might consider reducing its highly enriched uranium in exchange for the complete lifting of financial sanctions.
Meanwhile, Adani Enterprises from India confirmed cooperation with a US investigation into possible sanctions violations related to the importation of Iranian oil products. In response to recent protests, Iran intensified its crackdown, leading to more arrests.
