China has officially announced that citizens of Canada and the United Kingdom will now have the opportunity to travel to China without a visa starting Tuesday. This decision came after the leaders of both countries made agreements during their recent visits to Beijing.
In January, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney journeyed to Beijing to strengthen ties with China and reduce dependence on the United States. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress made during meetings with top Chinese officials, including President Xi Jinping, particularly in regard to visa-free travel for their citizens to China.
The Chinese foreign ministry confirmed the visa waiver agreements on Sunday, stating that citizens of Canada and the United Kingdom can enter China visa-free from Tuesday until December 31. According to an official statement, individuals holding ordinary passports from these countries can visit China for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchanges, or transit for up to 30 days.
This policy aims to enhance people-to-people interactions between China and other nations, promoting greater cultural exchange and cooperation.
