Two days after mentioning that she was facing various forms of targeting, actress Mehazabien Chowdhury has provided a detailed explanation regarding a recent circulating report about her.
Earlier this week, the actress took to social media to address online harassment and the misuse of artificial intelligence, highlighting how actresses are increasingly becoming victims of digitally altered and deceptive content. While her initial post did not specify a particular incident, her latest statement directly confronts a report alleging that she was detained at an airport last year upon her return from overseas.
In her recent statement, Mehazabien vehemently refuted the accusations and confirmed that she has initiated legal proceedings in response to the matter. “Regarding the recent defamatory claims circulating against me, I have taken legal action. I would like to clarify a few points in this regard,” she stated.
Disputing the claims in detail, she clarified that she was never stopped at the airport, and neither her handbags nor luggage were confiscated. She also emphasized that no airport official interrogated her at any time.
Expressing deep concern over the situation, the actress highlighted the prevalence of defamation and the lack of evidence to support the serious allegations made against her. She pointed out the use of her photo for clickbait without substantiating the claims.
“The allegations leveled against me are completely unfounded,” she reiterated, emphasizing that she had no involvement in the incident linked to her in certain publications.
It was reported recently that Mehazabien had been detained at an airport with 14 bottles of alcohol in her luggage, accompanied by her husband, director Adnan Al Rajeev, and filmmaker Shankha Dasgupta. The report, published by Asia Post, alleged that customs officials later permitted her to depart.
Nevertheless, the actress has unequivocally denied the incident, branding the accusations baseless and subject to legal recourse.
