Google announced the launch of a new Gemini app specifically designed for Mac users, enhancing accessibility to its AI assistant on Apple’s desktop system. This development aligns Google with competitors like OpenAI and Anthropic, who already provide Mac applications for their AI services.
Through a recent blog post, Google revealed that users can now easily access Gemini on their Mac by using the shortcut Option + Space from any window, enabling seamless integration with their ongoing tasks. The app is equipped to analyze on-screen content, including local files, offering features such as summarizing key points from complex visuals upon user request.
Additionally, Google highlighted that the Gemini app supports image and video generation capabilities through Nano Banana and Veo, respectively. This native macOS application is now globally available for Gemini users operating macOS 15 or later, accessible for download directly from Google’s Gemini website.
