The unveiling ceremony of the trophy for the forthcoming white-ball series between the Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team and the visiting Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team took place on Sunday at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
In a joint effort, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu revealed the trophy, kicking off the preparations for the multi-format tour.
The Sri Lanka women’s team, captained by Athapaththu, arrived in Bangladesh on Friday to participate in a three-match ODI series commencing on April 20 at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium. The following ODIs are set for April 22 and 25 at the same venue.
Following the ODI series, both teams will head to Sylhet for a three-match T20I series scheduled at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on April 28, 30, and May 2.
This tour marks Sri Lanka Women’s first bilateral series in Bangladesh. Previously, the two teams clashed in a bilateral series back in 2023 in Sri Lanka, with the hosts emerging victorious in both formats—taking the ODI series 1–0 and the T20I series 2–1.
The upcoming series also signifies a fresh start for Sri Lanka under the guidance of head coach Jamie Siddons, who has a history of coaching roles with the Bangladesh men’s team.
