Tragic Collision on Sherpur-Jamalpur Road: 2 Dead, 5 Injured

Today, a tragic incident on the Sherpur-Jamalpur road at Shimultoli in Sadar upazila of Sherpur district resulted in the loss of two lives and left five individuals injured after a mini-truck collided with a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. Among the deceased were Md Rokonuzzaman, 31, who served as an assistant presiding officer at Sherpur Government Girls’ High School and was the son of Tara Mia, along with Mahfuza Begum, 19, the wife of Nirob Mia from Jamalpur district.

The tragic event unfolded at approximately 9:00 am in the Jamalpur Bridge vicinity, where the mini-truck slammed into the CNG auto-rickshaw. This resulted in the immediate death of Rokonuzzaman and injuries to six others, as reported by Sohel Rana, the officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Following the collision, Mahfuza succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while the remaining injured individuals were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and Sherpur Upazila Health Complex for medical attention.
