“Bangladesh Plans 7-Day Licensing for Businesses”

Date:

Businesses in Bangladesh could soon receive licenses in just seven days as part of a new single-window initiative proposed in the fiscal year 2026-27 budget. This initiative would streamline all approval and licensing processes through a mandatory online platform.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced that under the proposal, the entire process, from submitting an application to receiving a license, would be finalized within a week. The primary goal of this move is to reduce bureaucratic delays, lower costs, and enhance Bangladesh’s appeal as an investment destination for local and foreign investors.

The single-window system would consolidate approvals for fire safety, environmental clearance, land use, and building design into a unified process, eliminating the need for investors to navigate various agencies and undergo multiple inspections.

Additionally, the government aims to expedite company registrations within 48 hours, issue work permits for foreign experts in seven days, and provide investor visas within 10 days. In cases where the relevant agency fails to respond within a specified timeframe, applications may be automatically approved.
