Concerns have been raised over the spread of misinformation about State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Mir Shahe Alam, MP, across social media platforms and various news outlets. The public has also been urged not to initiate any lawsuit, issue any statement, or take any other action in the minister’s name or on his behalf without his explicit authorization.
According to a statement released on Friday (June 19) by the State Minister’s Press Secretary, Md. Atikur Rahman, the minister has neither approved nor instructed anyone to undertake such activities.
The statement also addressed the recent incident involving four members of the newspaper Dainik Agrojatra Protidin. Expressing regret over the situation, the State Minister voiced hope that all parties concerned would resolve the matter peacefully through mutual dialogue and the legal process, and that the detained journalist would be released at the earliest opportunity.
The statement further noted that the plaintiff in the case is also a journalist and the elected Treasurer of the Bogura Press Club. In light of this, the State Minister called upon all concerned to exercise restraint and responsibility to ensure that the incident does not create misunderstanding or tension between different groups within the journalism community.
Additionally, the State Minister made an earnest appeal to members of the media to verify all information concerning him in an impartial manner before publishing any news reports, emphasizing the importance of responsible journalism and fact-based reporting.
