Yesterday, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) designated Md Sarwar Hossain, one of its Executive Directors, as a deputy governor for a three-year period, as per an official government announcement.
As outlined in the Bangladesh Bank Order of 1972, the appointment was carried out by the Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance.
Prior to assuming the deputy governor role, Sarwar will retire from his current position as an executive director. His post-retirement leave (PRL) has been put on hold to accommodate the new appointment.
According to the notification, Sarwar’s tenure as deputy governor will span three years starting from his commencement date.
Further details of his appointment, including terms and conditions, will be formalized in a contractual agreement.
