Bangladeshi actor Arifin Shuvoo is set to make his Bollywood debut in the upcoming political thriller series “Jazz City.” The journey began nearly three years ago when renowned Bollywood casting director Mukesh Chhabra approached Shuvoo about the project. After a series of auditions and script revisions, Shuvoo landed the leading role of Jimmy Roy in the show, scheduled to premiere on March 19.
To celebrate the occasion, an official promotional event was held at a luxurious hotel in Kolkata, where Shuvoo, along with director Soumik Sen and other cast members, shared insights into the making of “Jazz City.” Reflecting on his involvement in the project, Shuvoo revealed that it was Chhabra who initially contacted him while he was in Nepal. He recalled the rigorous audition process, mentioning how he was continuously tested and evaluated over a span of two years before finally securing the role through perseverance and dedication.
Apart from his role as director, Soumik Sen is also the mastermind behind the story and screenplay of “Jazz City.” Known for his previous works like “Gulaab Gang” and “Mahalaya,” Sen took on the challenge of bringing this political thriller to life on screen. He is also acclaimed for his work on the series “Jubilee,” a project that spanned seven years to complete.
The highly anticipated series will be available for streaming on SonyLIV, featuring a star-studded cast including Sauraseni Maitra alongside Arifin Shuvoo. The ensemble also includes talented actors such as Santanu Ghatak, Aniruddha Gupta, Sayandeep Sengupta, Shreya Bhattacharya, Shataf Figar, Alexandra Taylor, and Amit Saha, blending talents from both Bollywood and Tollywood.
