The US benchmark oil contract for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) surged to a six-month peak today amid concerns that diplomatic discussions between the US and Iran may not prevent a potential conflict that could disrupt oil supplies. WTI prices jumped by 2.2% to reach $66.62 per barrel, reaching their highest point since August. Concurrently, Brent crude, the global benchmark, also saw an increase of 2.0%, reaching $71.76 per barrel.
