Popular actor and singer, Kushum Shikder, has unveiled a fresh musical offering almost a decade after her last release, while also gearing up for the launch of an upcoming online show.
The latest release, titled “Hera Hote Hele Dule”, is a melodious naat-e-Rasul penned and composed by the renowned Kazi Nazrul Islam. Kushum disclosed that this marks her return to the music scene since “Nesha” was launched back in 2017.
The music video for “Hera Hote Hele Dule” was crafted using cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology. The venture was developed under the banner of Impress Telefilm, based on the vision of Faridur Reza Sagar and Shaikh Siraj. The video made its debut on Channel i last Sunday before hitting the channel’s digital platforms.
Having honed her skills in Nazrul Sangeet and classical music at the Nazrul Academy, Kushum emphasized the significance of performing this song. “I primarily identify as a Nazrul Sangeet artist. It is a special feeling to be back with a piece by Kazi Nazrul Islam,” she remarked, highlighting her enthusiasm for incorporating AI technology in the music video as a testament to the rapid advancements in global technology.
In addition to her musical return, Kushum has recently wrapped up filming for the web series “Paap Kahini 2”. Directed by Shahriar Nazim Joy, this marks her debut in a web-based project. The series delves into themes of love, betrayal, deceit, and vengeance. Joy, who also helmed the first installment, “Pap Kahini”, released last year.
Reflecting on her first foray into an OTT project, Kushum shared that the medium did not alter her approach to acting significantly. She emphasized her dedication to delivering a stellar performance for the character and cherished the collaboration with Joy and familiar co-stars.
If all goes according to plan, “Paap Kahini 2” is slated to premiere this Eid-ul-Fitr on the iScreen OTT platform. Kushum mentioned that she will soon commence dubbing for the series but refrained from divulging further plot details.
Labeling herself as discerning in project selection, the actress underscored her preference for roles that break away from the usual. “I always strive to pick diverse characters. That’s why I take on a limited number of projects,” she stated, expressing optimism that the audience will embrace the new series.
