A 15-year-old student from a madrasah in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area was fatally stabbed last night. The victim, identified as Mahim Mia, reportedly came under attack at around 10:00pm on Kajla School Goli. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead by doctors at approximately 11:30pm, as confirmed by Inspector Md Farouk, who is in charge of the hospital’s police outpost.
Mahim, a resident of Kishoreganj Sadar upazila, lived with his family in the Kajla neighborhood of Jatrabari. He was enrolled in the Hifz section of a local madrasah, as mentioned by his brother-in-law, Md Rafi. According to Rafi, Mahim was heading to meet his elder brother when he was confronted and stabbed by a group of teenage boys in the alley. Despite immediate efforts by family members to rush him to the hospital upon receiving the news, Mahim could not be saved.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, as highlighted by Rafi. Inspector Farouk confirmed that the body has been transferred to the hospital morgue for further examination.
