BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is directly involved in discussions leading up to the formation of the new cabinet, set to be sworn in tomorrow.
Anticipated to consist of 25 to 30 members, the cabinet will likely feature former ministers from the 2001 BNP-led government, Standing Committee members, and new faces to strike a balance between experienced leaders and emerging figures. Tarique Rahman is expected to assume the role of prime minister, overseeing a minimum of five ministries, including defense.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the Party Secretary General, is a potential candidate for the presidency, with interim responsibilities in a key ministry until the formal appointment is finalized. Former ministers like Mirza Abbas, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Abdul Moyeen Khan are also being considered for ministerial roles.
Moreover, the cabinet may see the inclusion of BNP Standing Committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and AZM Zahid Hossain, alongside newly elected MPs like Shama Ubaed, Afroza Khanam Rita, and Barrister Farzana Sharmin Putul. The party is also contemplating technocrat positions, with names including Nazrul Islam Khan, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Humayun Kabir, and Ismail Jabiullah being shortlisted.
