Two individuals from Bangladesh have been apprehended by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) while trying to unlawfully enter India through the Uttar Jhaukuti border in Nageshwari upazila, Kurigram. The detained individuals are identified as Solaiman Hossain from Bagmara village in Ashtamir Char union under Nageshwari upazila, and Sohag Mia from Kumartari village in Boldia union under Bhurungamari upazila, as reported by Lt Col Mahbub Ul Haque, who is the commanding officer of BGB-22 Kurigram Battalion.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has initiated steps to arrange a flag meeting for the immediate repatriation of the detained individuals. According to BGB officials, the two individuals crossed the border close to International Main Pillar-1037 at the Uttar Jhaukuti border during the early hours of the previous day and entered the Takimari area of Dhubri district in Assam, India. Upon detection by BSF personnel on patrol duty, they were apprehended and taken to a camp for further processing.
Lt Col Mahbub mentioned, “A flag meeting has been proposed with the BSF to facilitate the return of the two detained Bangladeshis. The necessary procedures are currently in progress.”
