Harvey Weinstein’s Retrial for Rape Charge Begins

The new trial of disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein for a rape charge, which previously resulted in a hung jury, commenced yesterday. Weinstein, who is currently serving prison time for other convictions, faces allegations of third-degree rape by Jessica Mann, known for her role in the 2015 movie “This Isn’t Funny.” Following a mistrial last June due to a jury dispute, the retrial is taking place in a Manhattan court. The proceedings kicked off on Tuesday with jury selection under the supervision of Judge Curtis Farber, who addressed defense attempts to stall the trial.
