A Dhaka court has approved a 72-hour remand for Rare Al Samir, the CEO of educational technology startup Interactive Cares, and his spouse and business partner Jamila Bupasha Khushbu. This decision comes after the filing of a second criminal case against them at Dhanmondi police Station, accusing them of fraud and breach of trust.
The case, lodged at Dhanmondi police station, cites sections 406, 420, and 34 of the Penal Code, pertaining to breach of trust, cheating, and actions taken with a common intention.
Al Samir was apprehended at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 28 while allegedly trying to exit the country. In a prior case filed at another police station the week before, the court refused bail and remanded the couple into custody.
Authorities claim that the duo amassed significant funds from investors and the general public for purported business ventures but failed to repay the money. Police are currently scrutinizing the financial dealings of the pair.
Al Samir refutes the accusations, while Interactive Cares has not released an official statement on the issue.
