Zimbabwe Cricket has officially confirmed that Bangladesh will embark on a comprehensive tour of Zimbabwe next month. The tour will encompass a solitary Test match, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and an equal number of Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
The solitary Test match is slated for June 28 at the Harare Sports Club, followed by the ODIs scheduled for July 6, 9, and 11 at the same venue. The T20Is will be held on July 15, 17, and 19 at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.
In their most recent encounter in Zimbabwe in 2021, Bangladesh emerged victorious in the one-off Test by a margin of 220 runs. This series marked the retirement of Mahmudullah Riyad from the Test format. The last ODI and T20I series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe took place in 2022, with the hosts clinching both series with a 2-1 scoreline.
The upcoming series will serve as Zimbabwe’s first home fixture of the year and their initial international engagement subsequent to the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, where they advanced to the Super Eights as group champions, achieving their best-ever finish in a T20 World Cup.
Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed his excitement about the upcoming tour, emphasizing its significance in the context of Zimbabwe’s re-entry into international cricket. Makoni highlighted the competitive nature of the series and the anticipation of thrilling matches across all formats.
Following their recent Test series triumph against Pakistan, Bangladesh is preparing for ODI and T20I contests against Australia at home in June before setting off for their series in Zimbabwe.
