Google has introduced a fresh range of laptops known as “Googlebooks” at the Android Show 2026 event. These Googlebook laptops will be constructed using the Android technology stack and will be compatible with the Chrome browser and Android apps. Users will have the convenience of accessing files and applications directly from linked Android smartphones without the need to switch between devices.
The new platform heavily emphasizes artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities. Google highlighted its Gemini AI system, which will be seamlessly integrated throughout the operating system. One notable feature is the “Magic Pointer”, offering context-based suggestions based on cursor placement or movement.
At the Android Show 2026, demonstrations showcased tasks such as scheduling meetings directly from email messages and creating visual furniture layouts by combining images. Moreover, the laptops will support AI-generated widgets, demonstrated through functionalities like organizing travel itineraries, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations, and event countdowns.
Despite the unveiling, various aspects of the project remain ambiguous. Google has not revealed details regarding hardware specifications, processor partnerships, pricing, or model names. There is also uncertainty about whether Googlebooks will eventually replace Chromebooks.
During the event, a sleek laptop design was presented, featuring a distinctive glowing multicolored light bar, described by Google as a signature design element across the product range. Google disclosed that the initial devices will be developed in collaboration with major PC manufacturers, including Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer.
