WhatsApp is set to launch a new privacy-centered artificial intelligence (AI) function known as “Incognito Chat with Meta AI.” The new feature, revealed by Meta, aims to enable users to engage in temporary and confidential discussions with the company’s AI assistant without Meta having visibility or storing the chats permanently.
Meta’s Incognito Chat relies on the use of its “Private Processing” technology, which handles messages in a secure environment that even Meta cannot access. According to Meta, conversations initiated through this feature will vanish by default and will not be retained.
Meta has disclosed its intentions to enhance its private AI tools by introducing a feature called “Side Chat” in the near future. This tool will offer AI support within discussions while upholding privacy safeguards through the same “Private Processing” technology.
The rollout of Incognito Chat with Meta AI is expected to occur gradually on both WhatsApp and the Meta AI application in the upcoming months.
