Jamaat-e-Islami-Led Coalition Unveils Advocacy Plan

Date:

The 11-party coalition, led by Jamaat-e-Islami, unveiled plans yesterday for a series of initiatives scheduled between tomorrow and May 2 to advocate for the enforcement of the July charter.

Commencing with a large-scale procession in Dhaka tomorrow, the agenda will progress to similar gatherings in divisional cities on April 25 and in district towns on May 2. Additionally, the coalition intends to distribute leaflets and conduct seminars in divisional cities and key district towns over the designated period.

Following a meeting of senior leaders from the opposition alliance, Jamaat’s Secretary General, Mia Golam Porwar, disclosed the outlined activities during a press briefing at the Al-Falah Auditorium, located near Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar, the capital.

The session, presided over by Opposition Leader and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, was attended by prominent alliance figures such as Opposition Chief Whip and NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Liberal Democratic Party President Col (retd) Oli Ahmad, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis chief Mamunul Haque, and AB Party General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad.

Porwar articulated that the coalition intends to organize rallies in all city corporations and divisional headquarters, with the liaison committee responsible for determining the specific dates. Subsequently, a grand rally is planned in Dhaka post the scheduled activities, where further action plans will be revealed.

The Jamaat representative accused the government of disregarding public endorsement and reiterated the call for the lawful recognition of the July charter, affirming the alliance’s persistence in conducting activities until compliance is achieved.
