Iran’s Civil Aviation Authority announced today that it has partially lifted the airspace restrictions in the eastern part of the country, allowing international flights to transit through. The authority confirmed that air routes in the eastern section of Iran are now open, with some airports reopening at 7:00am (0330 GMT).
Despite the announcement, as of more than three hours later, there were no international flights passing through Iran according to flight tracker websites. Some flights were seen taking alternative routes to avoid Iranian airspace, leading to longer journey times.
