Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has apprehended the prime suspect involved in the tragic killing of six-year-old Fatema Khatun in Madhupur upazila of Tangail. The arrested individual, identified as Md Abbas Ali, aged 30, was captured in the College Para locality of Tangail town, as per a statement released by CPC-3 of RAB-14’s Tangail division.
The distressing incident took place on April 11, when Fatema was enticed to accompany Abbas to a nearby market on the pretext of purchasing juice. Following her disappearance, her family lodged a report at Madhupur Police Station. Tragically, Fatema’s lifeless body was found the next day in a cornfield close to her uncle’s residence.
Subsequently, Fatema’s mother lodged a murder complaint against Abbas and other unidentified individuals. During initial questioning, Abbas confessed to strangling Fatema with the intention of stealing her gold and silver ornaments, claiming sole responsibility for the heinous act.
Captain Tawhid, the acting leader of CPC‑3, verified that Abbas has been transferred to Madhupur Police Station for further legal procedures.
