Authorities reported that a man was brutally murdered by unknown attackers in Barishal Sadar upazila during the previous evening.
The victim, Mohammad Delwar Hossain Chowdhury, aged 60 and a resident of Ward No 2 in Raipasha-Karapura union, was identified as the deceased. He was the son of the late Nazir Chowdhury from Uttar Karapur village, as confirmed by Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mizanur Rahman.
According to the police, Delwar was viciously attacked on the left side of his head using sharp weapons, and his lifeless body was then disposed of in a nearby ditch.
Following a tip-off from locals, law enforcement officers retrieved the body from a ditch close to Shibpasha Badamtala Bridge. The motive behind the brutal killing remains uncertain and will be unveiled after a thorough investigation, stated the OC.
Community members mentioned observing a deserted bicycle and a muffler on the roadside, which raised suspicions. A subsequent search in the vicinity led to the discovery of a body in a nearby ditch, prompting the residents to notify the police.
Locals alleged that Delwar was an active member of the BNP’s Raipasha-Karapura union group and had ongoing conflicts with various individuals in the locality.
Authorities confirmed that steps are being taken to register a murder case in connection with this incident.
