Trump announced via social media that the US had granted a request from Pakistani mediators to postpone any military action against Iran until leaders can reach a consensus through discussions. However, no specific timeline was provided for the ceasefire extension.
Despite the ceasefire extension, the US Navy continues to enforce a blockade on Iran’s maritime trade. Iran views this blockade as an act of aggression and has vowed to keep the strait closed until it is lifted, citing repercussions on global energy supply.
Shortly after Trump’s announcement, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards intercepted two ships for maritime violations, marking the first such incident since the conflict began. The Guards emphasized that any disruption in the strait’s operations would be a serious matter.
