The government of Bangladesh has introduced a plan to create strategic policies in the electronics industry with the aim of establishing the country as a prominent global electronics manufacturing center in the next five years, as part of the fiscal year 2026-27 budget proposal.
During the budget announcement, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury highlighted the electronics sector as one of the rapidly expanding and most promising industries in Bangladesh, following the success of the ready-made garments (RMG) sector.
Emphasizing the significance of digital devices in advancing the country’s ICT sector, the Minister stressed the importance of promoting local production to make digital devices accessible at competitive prices to the public, and to facilitate their export to international markets.
