“Chattogram Mayor Cracks Down on Unlawful Billboards”

Date:

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain has declared a strict stance against unlawful billboards and unauthorized advertisements in a bid to transform the port city into a well-planned, clean, and visually pleasing urban center.

In line with his instructions, a comprehensive operation was initiated yesterday to eliminate banners, posters, and hoardings that have cluttered the city’s skyline for a considerable period. The eviction drive kicked off in the Kazir Dewri locality, spearheaded by a CCC executive magistrate in collaboration with the engineering and conservancy departments, backed by law enforcement bodies.

Numerous oversized billboards and a multitude of unauthorized banners and posters, some of which had occupied public spaces without authorization for an extended period, were taken down during the operation. CCC officials highlighted that these illegal structures not only marred the city’s aesthetics but also posed safety hazards.

The removal of these structures has not only cleared up the intersection but also enhanced the flow of traffic, officials noted. Mayor Shahadat, while inspecting the area, affirmed that regular enforcement actions would be conducted throughout the city, aiming to eliminate billboards entirely from Chattogram.
