In the latest Pakistan Super League matchup on Saturday, Bangladesh bowlers played a significant role in claiming six out of 17 wickets. The unbeaten Peshawar Zalmi secured a convincing 76-run victory over Lahore Qalandars in Karachi, propelling them to the top of the league table with nine points from five matches.
Peshawar Zalmi, after being asked to bat at the National Stadium, posted a competitive total of 173 for seven. Kusal Mendis, the leading run-scorer of the tournament, starred with a quickfire 74 off 48 balls, well-supported by Babar Azam’s 43 off 40 deliveries. In response, Lahore Qalandars could only manage 97 runs in 17 overs, sliding to the sixth spot on the table with four points.
Bangladeshi fast bowlers made an impact on both teams, with Mustafizur Rahman representing Lahore and Nahid Rana along with Shoriful Islam playing for Peshawar. Mustafizur delivered his best performance of the PSL edition, claiming two wickets for 30 runs in his four overs, showcasing control and skill. He dismissed Michael Bracewell and Aamer Jamal with clever variations in pace.
On the other hand, Shoriful struck early for Peshawar by removing Mohammad Naeem with a well-directed delivery. Meanwhile, Nahid’s aggressive bowling style paid off as he picked up crucial wickets, including that of Abdullah Shafique, triggering a collapse in Lahore’s batting lineup.
Nahid finished with impressive figures of three for 15 from three overs, maintaining a tight line and length throughout his spell. His standout performance in this match followed a strong showing against Karachi Kings, highlighting his growing impact in the tournament. Mustafizur and Nahid currently feature among the top wicket-takers in the league, showcasing their bowling prowess and consistency.
