“Bangladesh Cricket League Schedule Hinges on DPL Outcome”

Date:

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is currently waiting for the outcome of a meeting on April 8 between the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) and the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) clubs before finalizing the schedule for the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) in the longer format.

AEM Kawser, the BCB tournament committee in-charge, mentioned that if the DPL does not happen, the BCL will commence on April 21. However, if the DPL proceeds, adjustments will be made to the BCL schedule to accommodate the players’ commitments.

Should the DPL be canceled, the opening round matches of the BCL will take place in Sylhet, followed by the second round in Rajshahi and Bogura, and the third in Chattogram and Rajshahi. The second round is anticipated to kick off on April 28, with the final round starting after a one-week break to allow national players to join a preparatory camp ahead of the upcoming Pakistan Tests.

Pakistan is set to arrive in Bangladesh on May 4 for a two-Test series, a part of the World Test Championship, with the first Test likely to begin on May 8, according to a draft schedule. The most recent BCL four-day tournament was held in December 2023, while the one-day edition took place earlier this year.
