Basir Jamal, who holds the position of senior vice-president at the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), has been selected as the new managing director (MD) of the Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust. The appointment of the former MD, Muhammad Abdullah, has been revoked.
The Ministry of Public Administration released a notification today announcing the appointment. As per the regulations of the Bangladesh Journalists’ Welfare Trust Act, 2014, Basir will serve on a contractual basis for one year from his commencement date.
A key condition of Basir’s appointment is the requirement to terminate all professional associations with other institutions and organizations.
