Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, has restarted regular flights on the Dhaka-Narita-Dhaka route, following a suspension that lasted over a year. The inaugural flight, carrying 143 passengers, took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Narita at 2:25 am today, as stated in a press release.
Narita International Airport is a key international gateway to Tokyo. The reintroduction of this route aims to enhance air connections between Bangladesh and Japan, fostering trade, investment, tourism, educational exchanges, cultural interactions, and strengthening the bond between the two nations.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister on Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat were part of a program to welcome passengers and engage in discussions before the first flight departed. Officials anticipate that reopening the route will offer a convenient travel choice for professionals, students, tourists, and Bangladeshi expatriates, contributing to the deepening of economic collaborations and bilateral ties between the two countries.
Biman will use its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for operating this route. The airline reaffirmed its dedication to delivering secure, timely, and globally recognized services, while expanding its network to enhance Bangladesh’s air connectivity.
