Chhatra Union Condemns Listing of War Criminals in Parliament

Date:

Bangladesh Chhatra Union (Mahir Reza-Bahauddin Shuvo faction) has expressed strong disapproval of the listing of convicted war criminals in the condolence resolution during the inaugural session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.

In a press statement issued by the office secretary Meraj Khan Ador, the organization criticized the inclusion of “notorious war criminals” such as Matiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, Delwar Hossain Sayeedi, and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury in the motion.

Chhatra Union Central President Mahir Shahriar Reza and General Secretary Bahauddin Shuvo jointly condemned the action, denouncing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) alignment with war criminals as a reiteration of their past policy.

The group emphasized that this decision constitutes a betrayal of the three million martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War, highlighting that instead of honoring the war heroes, the parliament included the names of war criminals in the condolence motion.

By aligning themselves with war criminals despite claiming to represent pro-Liberation War factions, the BNP has been accused of betraying the people who elected them into power.

The leaders emphasized the significance of the Liberation War in the nation’s history, warning that any disrespect towards it will be met with a strong reaction from the public.
