China has officially announced that starting tomorrow, Canadian and British nationals can enter the country without a visa. This decision comes after the leaders of both countries visited Beijing and reached agreements on easing travel restrictions. In January, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney made official visits to China to strengthen ties and shift focus away from the United States. During their meetings with top Chinese officials, including President Xi Jinping, they discussed various issues, including the facilitation of visa-free access for their citizens. Yesterday, Beijing’s foreign ministry confirmed the implementation of these agreements, allowing Canadian and British citizens to travel to China without a visa starting tomorrow.
