Bangladeshi celebrity Shakib Khan is currently in Kolkata shooting his upcoming movie, “Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka,” set to release during Eid. The filming, which followed a stint in Sri Lanka, has caught the eye of locals in areas such as Alipur Jail, Howrah, and Boubazar.
During the shoot, Khan was captured riding a motorcycle in Boubazar, sporting a unique look with red-toned hair, a well-groomed beard, and a floral shirt paired with an open denim jacket. Pedestrians stopped in their tracks as cameras trailed the actor through the city streets.
The star-studded cast features talents like Tasnia Farin, Jyotirmoyee Kundu, Loknath Dey, Paean Sarkar, and Mrityunjoy Bhattacharya, bringing together a mix of Indian and Bangladeshi actors. Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, filming commenced in Kolkata in the second week of February, with plans to shift operations to Hyderabad soon.
Crucial action scenes were filmed at an abandoned factory in Howrah starting from February 9. Khan is said to be portraying a character inspired by the 1990s Bangladeshi underworld figure “Kala Jahangir,” depicting his evolution from a law-abiding citizen to a notorious gangster.
On February 11, the crew moved to Madhob Bhavan in central Boubazar for filming. The aged pale yellow structure set the stage for a motorcycle stunt that attracted a small audience. Loknath Dey, who previously acted alongside Khan in “Toofan,” plays the lead character’s trusted aide.
The cinematography is overseen by Bollywood veterans Amit Roy and Shaaillesh Awasthi, known for their work on prominent projects like “Animal” and major Kolkata productions by Shrikant Mohta and Ashok Dhankar. Shirin Sultana of Creative Land Films is producing the movie, promising a blend of action, romance, and urban drama.
“Prince” marks one of the most extensive Bangladesh film productions to film in Kolkata, uniting talents from both sides of the border and utilizing urban settings to offer a visual treat for Eid moviegoers.
