Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon highlighted the inadequacies of the country’s traditional education system, attributing the surge in unemployment to its failure to meet the demands of the job market. Emphasizing the role of education in reducing unemployment and cultivating a skilled workforce, he addressed these concerns during a discussion commemorating Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day at the Primary Teachers’ Training Institute in Mirpur. The event, organized by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, served as a platform for Milon to advocate for a more employment-oriented educational framework that prioritizes equipping students with relevant skills to enhance their productivity. Recognizing the mismatch between the current education offerings and market demands, he stressed the necessity to realign the system to better cater to employment needs. Milon further underscored the importance of restructuring the education system to be more employment-centric, skill-focused, and timely. Additionally, he pledged to safeguard and promote the languages of the country’s ethnic minority groups. State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj echoed the sentiment, underscoring the significance of laying a solid educational foundation for the nation’s future prosperity. He also outlined plans to implement a stringent “zero tolerance” anti-corruption policy across all departments under the education ministry.
