“Gonobiplobi Udyog: New Political Group Emerges in Bangladesh”

Date:

A new political group called Gonobiplobi Udyog (People’s Revolutionary Initiative) was introduced yesterday, inspired by the principles of the July mass protest movement. The launch event took place at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) with five individuals officially presenting the platform.

The group comprises Arif Sohel, who previously held the role of joint member secretary at the National Citizen Party (NCP); Khan Muhammad Mursalin, the former joint chief coordinator of NCP; Tanjina Tammim Hapsa, serving as the assistant general secretary (AGS) of the Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall union at Dhaka University; Abdullah Salehin Ayon, a former leader of Students Against Discrimination (SAD); and Farzana Akter Charulata.

In an interview with The Daily Star, Mursalin, a representative of Gonobiplobi Udyog, emphasized the platform’s core aim of uniting leaders and participants of the July protest movement under a single organization. He also mentioned that the group is open to all, with approximately 50 members already enlisted. Additionally, a website is in development to facilitate public interaction, enabling individuals to express their views and formally engage with the initiative.
