Intel is preparing to team up with SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla, all companies supported by Elon Musk, to establish a fresh semiconductor manufacturing center in Texas. This move signifies an extension of the Terafab project, which focuses on creating cutting-edge chips for artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics.
Terafab, introduced by Elon Musk in March, is a joint initiative between his two enterprises to produce high-performance chips for various applications such as AI computing, satellite systems, a potential space-based data center, and upcoming autonomous vehicles and robotics.
In a recent statement on X, Intel expressed, “Our capacity to create, manufacture, and package ultra-high-performance chips on a large scale will contribute to speeding up Terafab’s goal of generating 1 TW/year of compute power to drive future advancements in AI and robotics.”
Further details regarding the extent of Intel’s participation were not disclosed.
