An alleged attempt to exploit a political advantage while shirking political accountability and exerting influence on the court has been accused by Mia Golam Parwar, the secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
The accusation was made in a statement issued yesterday in response to the High Court division of the Supreme Court imposing a four-week rule on issues related to the enforcement of the July Charter.
As per the statement, the High Court imposed the rule concerning an order on the enforcement of the July Charter, the inauguration of a constitutional reform council, the matter of a referendum, and 30 reform proposals approved based on consensus.
Golam Parwar emphasized that political matters should not be brought before the court. He highlighted that past attempts to resolve political issues through legal channels did not lead to positive results; instead, they caused confusion and deadlock in national affairs.
The Jamaat leader expressed that the traditional strategy of using the court to achieve desired outcomes should be discarded. He warned that if the government reneges on its commitment to implement the July Charter, it would disappoint public expectations.
