“Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban Prepares for Swearing-In Ceremonies”

Date:

Refurbishment, maintenance, and cleaning activities were in progress at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban yesterday in anticipation of the upcoming swearing-in ceremonies for the newly elected MPs and the incoming cabinet members.

Efforts were observed to tidy up the South Plaza and its surrounding areas. Furthermore, the parliament complex was undergoing renovations, with damaged sections being fixed and spaces cleaned to welcome the incoming members.

A senior official from the parliament secretariat mentioned that the interior of the parliament building and the designated rooms for MPs had been reorganized and redecorated.

Preparations have been ongoing since Saturday under the close supervision of the Cabinet Division and the Parliament Secretariat, the official noted.

The newly elected MPs of the 13th parliament are scheduled to take their oaths tomorrow at 10:00 am at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, as informed by Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.

Moreover, the swearing-in ceremony for the new cabinet members will also occur at the same location at 4:00 pm, according to Nazrul during his interaction with the media at his office at the Secretariat.

It is anticipated that CEC AMM Nasir Uddin will administer the oath to the MPs, while President Mohammed Shahabuddin will oversee the oath-taking for the cabinet members, the law adviser disclosed.

“As per the BNP’s notification, subsequent to their oath at the South Plaza, they plan to elect the leader of their parliamentary party. This process might take place around 11:30 am or 12:00 pm,” stated Asif Nazrul.

Responding to inquiries regarding the choice of the South Plaza over Bangabhaban for the swearing-in ceremony, Nazrul mentioned that the BNP had expressed a preference for the South Plaza.

“This parliament holds unique significance. It symbolizes the sacrifices made by the July students and the public, the mass uprising, extensive sacrifices, and loss of lives. In exchange for all these, we have this parliament,” stated Nazrul, explaining the decision.

“In light of these considerations, it appears they have chosen this location. We have made the necessary arrangements accordingly,” he added.
