“Massive Fire Engulfs Karwan Bazar Building Overnight”

Date:

A fire incident occurred at a five-story building in Karwan Bazar, the capital city, last night. The fire started in a room within the Kathpotti area around 10:30 pm, spreading to the third, fourth, and fifth floors of the building.

The affected building stored items such as boards, wood, tissue paper, stationeries, and diapers, which are highly flammable materials. The upper levels were utilized as warehouses, while the ground floors accommodated sawmills.

Efforts to extinguish the flames were underway until 12:38 am today, with eleven fire engines involved in the operation, as reported by Talha Bin Zashim, an inspector at the media center of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence. Additionally, army personnel were assisting the firefighters during the incident.

Md Jewel, an employee of Anwar Motor Works, mentioned that their tin-shed workshop, adjacent to the five-story building, suffered damage due to the fire. Despite promptly evacuating cars from the workshop, their shop was unfortunately destroyed in the process.
