“Nahid Rana Clinches ICC Player of the Month”

Date:

Nahid Rana has been awarded the prestigious title of ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2026 following an outstanding ODI series against New Zealand. The talented Bangladesh bowler showcased his skill by taking eight wickets across three matches against the Black Caps, building on his previous success in March where he also claimed eight wickets in a series against Pakistan.

This marks Rana’s first monthly ICC award, making him the first player from Bangladesh to receive the men’s accolade since Mehidy Hasan Miraz achieved the honor in April of the previous year. Expressing his gratitude, Rana stated, “It’s a great feeling to be named the ICC Player of the Month after performing well against a world-class side like New Zealand. To deliver on home soil made the series even more special and it was a series that I will always cherish. I’m grateful to my team-mates for their constant support and belief in me throughout. I hope to keep contributing to more victories and memorable moments for my team.”

Although Rana had a modest start in the first ODI against New Zealand, claiming only one wicket while conceding 65 runs, he quickly rose to prominence in the second ODI. Securing his second career five-wicket haul, Rana made a significant impact early in the match by taking two wickets during the Powerplay and later adding three more to dismantle the Black Caps, who were bowled out for 198, with Rana finishing with excellent figures of 5/32.

Continuing his impressive form in the final ODI, Rana posed a constant threat to the Kiwi batters. His two crucial wickets in the decider in Chattogram helped Bangladesh secure a 2-1 series victory, with Rana also being honored as the Player of the Series for his outstanding contributions. Overall, his eight-wicket haul came at an impressive average of 16.75 and an economy rate of 4.46, solidifying Nahid Rana’s deserving recognition as the ICC Player of the Month for April 2026.
