“NCP Chief Faces Youth Confrontation in Chattogram”

Yesterday, Hasnat Abdullah, the Chief Organiser (South) of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and a lawmaker from Cumilla-4, faced a group of young individuals during his visit to the residence of former Chattogram City Corporation mayor Mohammad Manjur Alam.

According to the police, the youths questioned Abdullah about the purpose of his visit to the former mayor’s residence in the Akbarshah area of Chattogram city.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (West Zone) Alamgir Hossain informed The Daily Star that Abdullah had attended an event at the residence of Manjurul Alam, the former mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and the owner of the Mostafa Hakim Group.

Hossain added, “Abdullah did not notify the local police prior to his visit. Upon his arrival, members of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and local youths gathered, questioning him about the purpose of his visit.”

After being informed, the police quickly intervened, bringing the situation under control and escorting Abdullah to his vehicle following the confrontation.

A video of the incident, where local youths identifying themselves as “July fighters” questioned Hasnat, has been circulating on social media.

Manjur Alam clarified to the media that Hasnat Abdullah’s visit to his residence was a courtesy call.
